Recognition of Teachers

In rural areas in Karnataka, India, government schools were the major sources of education. Yet, in recent years, an overwhelming number of them have been shut down due to poor management and growing efforts to privatize schools. Recognition of teachers and their efforts to improve rural schools is of primary importance to help preserve rural schools and promote rural school education.

In order to encourage teachers in rural schools for their passion and efforts, Samatva identifies and recognizes the best teachers in rural schools. Samatva recognized Ms. Anuradha, principal of Hadhinaru Rural High School near Mysuru, for her dedication to improving the school.

"This is the first time I have received recognition. Thank you so much," she said in Kannada, a language that all rural kids in Karnataka speak.
