The Duffy Nursing Scholarship identifies talented, ambitious students who want to pursue a nursing degree and profession. Potential or current nursing students, especially women, from poor, rural families, are encouraged to apply.
This fellowship is supported by the Duffy family because they believe in “education as the path out of poverty.” The Duffy family says that “education allowed us to have successful careers and help our own family members. Healthcare is a noble profession with a great need for caring, compassionate people. We feel blessed to be able to help Indian girls achieve their nursing diplomas like we did in Ireland so many years ago.”

ಈ ಫೆಲೋಶಿಪ್ ಅನ್ನು ಡಫಿ ಕುಟುಂಬವು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರು "ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವು ಬಡತನದಿಂದ ಹೊರಬರುವ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿದೆ" ಎಂದು ನಂಬುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಡಫ್ಫಿ ಕುಟುಂಬವು "ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವು ನಮಗೆ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ವೃತ್ತಿಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಲು ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಂತ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು. ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯು ಉದಾತ್ತ ವೃತ್ತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕಾಳಜಿಯುಳ್ಳ, ಸಹಾನುಭೂತಿಯ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆ ಇದೆ. ನಾವು ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಐರ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿದಂತೆ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಹುಡುಗಿಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಡಿಪ್ಲೊಮಾಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಲು ನಾವು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.

She comes from a low-income, single parent family that struggles to afford food and rent. Her long term goals include getting a doctorate in nursing and winning the Nobel Prize. During this journey, she is determined to help people who seek to continue their education.
